Upgrade Information

Upgrade to 2026.2.4

Frontend Build Ships as a Packaged Archive

The compiled Studio frontend is no longer committed as an expanded public/studio/build/<build-id>/ directory. It now ships as a single archive (build-dist/build-<id>.zip) that is extracted automatically during cache warmup.

The build output also moved one level deeper, into public/studio/build/dist/<build-id>/. This is what the archive is extracted into, and it is required because the extractor replaces its whole target directory on every extraction. Keeping the build in public/studio/build/ directly would therefore destroy the TinyMCE language files alongside it.

public/studio/build/langs/ is unchanged: it stays committed and keeps serving from /bundles/pimcoretinymce/studio/build/langs/<major>/<lang>.js, so nothing that loads a language file is affected. Only the bundle's own build assets move under dist/, and those are referenced through the generated entrypoints.json / manifest.json, never by a hard-coded URL.

pimcore/studio-ui-bundle ^2026.2.1 is now required, as it provides the archive extraction.

Note: Read-only filesystem deployments must run bin/console cache:warmup (or cache:clear) during the build/deploy phase while the bundle directory (usually under vendor/) is still writable. Standard Pimcore deployments already do this. When assets:install runs in copy mode, run cache:warmup before it, otherwise no frontend assets are copied. If the filesystem becomes read-only before the first warmup, the bundle fails with BuildArchiveNotWritableException because there is no build to serve.

Upgrade to 2026.2.0

  • Added support for TinyMCE v8.

Upgrade to 2026.1.0

PHP & Symfony Version Requirements

  • Added support for PHP 8.5.
  • Dropped PHP 8.3 and Symfony 6 support. Upgrade to PHP 8.4+ and Symfony 7 before updating to this version.

Removed Admin Classic (ExtJS) Support

  • PimcoreTinymceBundle no longer implements PimcoreBundleAdminClassicInterface and no longer uses BundleAdminClassicTrait. All ExtJS-based Admin Classic UI assets have been removed.
  • The following JavaScript files have been removed:
    • public/js/editor.js
    • All public/js/langs/*.js language files (70+ language stubs)
  • The CSS file public/css/editor.css has been removed.
  • The methods getCssPaths(), getEditmodeCssPaths(), getJsPaths(), getEditmodeJsPaths(), and the private getAllJsPaths() have been removed from PimcoreTinymceBundle.

Removed EventListener

  • Pimcore\Bundle\TinymceBundle\EventListener\IndexSettingsListener has been removed. It passed the TinyMCE script URL into the Admin Classic index settings event.

Studio UI Services

  • The Studio UI and Studio Backend service configurations are now always loaded unconditionally. PimcoreStudioUiBundle is now a required dependency.
